Using a GPS locator (seriously i lost my base for like 3 hours of looking)

In case you're a little stupid like me with no real sense of direction I suggest setting up a GPS locator at your main base, I went out on a quick forage for some batteries popped out to a cave near my home base did the cave came out and headed back to where I thought my base was.......three physical hours later I stumbled across it again, yes I know I should of set up the home beacon sooner so I thought now I'm back i don't wanna have this happen again and tried to set one up.........after trying several different ways I had to look it up.

Plant a stick (upright)
then go to GPS locator in inventory
stick it on the stick

plant the stick on top of your base as it can get easily knocked over and you lose the location

Hope that helps someone out there

On a positive note whilst frantically searching for my base I found the can opener and winter jacket so I'm happily eating cat food in a big coat.....awesome.

a teent will also show the "home" icon.

put rocks around it and you can put it on the ground, or just make a tent near it so you have a marker on your gps.

Or you know, use a tarp tent.

I'm just thrilled at the fact that someone can get lost in this game like that - I LOVE the map being as big as it is.

that's a great idea. we built a custom cabin and use the bed as a save/rest point, but that doesn't show up on the map as a house icon (which I wish would be fixed) so a GPS locator on top is necessary, thanks!

Player-built beds should show a home icon on the map. They currently don't. Whether is is a bug or by design, no one knows. It just is.

Your best bet is to set up a tarp shelter at your base in order to mark it on your map. Or you can set up a GPS tracker on a stick as an alternative.

This. I use tents way more than GPS to mark spots on the map. Tarps and sticks are all over the place.
