As stated you have to sharpen the tops of the wall so they don't jump over but I would do your idea just for fun as see how it works. That's the cool part of games have fun and do it you're way. The original Forest was much better and you could have a lot of fun at night as you got more and more waves of enemies as the days wore on. I built a lot of trap tunnel type things like you are talking about just for fun. Just be sure you build a look out so you can watch the carnage haha.
