whats the use of Machete and stun gun?

whatever they can do starter axe and stun baton that u get outside ropegun cave do better.. unless im missing something?

I found machete can be very helpful when you attacking bushes, clearing a piece of land. It needs less energy, and swings almost as wide as katana.
Stun weapons used to stun enemies so your colleagues could damage them quickly unharmed. If group of 3-4 ppl goes to cave, one or two can be with flashlight (enough to light the cave) also one could be with stun weapon to stun fast or strong enemies. Work together and kill one by one. Different weapons/different ranges means less friendly bodies damaged.

Actually the machete is a very good melee weapon and I'm playing in difficult mode. The machete is much better than the starter axe and the stun baton. The reason is that the machete will basically "stun" the target while you're attacking it. You can just wipte out a whole team of 5-6 blind mutants in a cave without taking a single hit from them. It's much better than any axe. The katana might be a bit better but I'm not sure that the katana stuns targets as much as the machete. Moreover the machete is "free" in the sense that you can just run to it. So yes, hurry and grab the machete and spam enemies as much as you can with it.

The katana is much better. Better blocking, longer range, more damage, and I consistently can chop of limbs in once charged attack. The machete is a great weapon though, it was my favorite in the first game and it's alright in this game too.

It's optimised for clearing brush, low stamina, quick, decent range. Sure, it isn't a bad weapon but it seems Endnight made it to be the main brush clearing tool. Try it yourself, find a thick area and without stopping to pick anything up, just go in swinging for a minute, then repeat the process with the katana or an axe, big difference.

I believe the machete in the first game was used for gathering sticks as it took 1 took and a lot less stamina. Stun gun.. hopefully we can melt it down as resin.

stungun shoots stun bolts, so its not melee. the stun baton is close range aka melee.
