Low fps, but i have a high end pc?
i just recently got the game but no matter what settings i run at i only get about 30-50 fps and it is stutters pretty bad at some times. anyone know if this is just purely optimaztion or what the deal here is because its honestly not even enjoyable for me to play.

My specs are: i9 12900k
rtx 4070 ti
32gb ddr4
running on m.2 ssd

My Geforce RTX 3090 is running hot as hell, to hot to touch.

It's running okay probably because I turned all the settings down. This is my second GeForce 3090, the one before this one burned out in about 5 months and they replaced it. I shouldn't have to turn my graphics settings way down with the price tag of this card. I'll never buy another one. You could fry an egg on this card it was running that hot. Still running hot, if it burns out again good riddance.

Yes, I play Cyberpunkt 2077 on medium settings with no problems (can't play high settings because my setup is not good enough, but medium settings always work), but it's terrible with SotF - every new game session the game crashes or stutters like hell. Strangely after a while it's ok and I can play kt like 40-50 FPS. But all in all the game has been optimized terribly or not at all. I haven't had this problem with any other game before. That's really no fun.

update: after some more playing and restarting the game it would run at 60-70 fps smooth and then as i progressed through the map it just slowly went back to around 40-50 fps its still playable by all means but ive seen videos of people with similar specs running at 100+ fps it just makes no sense to me especially with a brand new computer, and all of my other games run good as usual

seems some people run it fine i would just put this down to early access poor optimisation across pc hardware!

its pre alpha, it still needs optimisation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC-rbMr-icQ Here is said how to raise your FPS. In short - set texture res to half and turn on AA. The B key building book will have a washed look, but the rest of picture should be sharp and nice. Also some other advices of tuning your machine are in there.
When I'm not looking at my base with custom buildings and all, I got about 40-50 FPS on GTX 1070.
Who said their 3090 is getting hot - check specs, mine 1070 the usual working temperature is about 80 degrees Celsius. Install some monitoring software and set warnings.

You never bought the early access game, did you? :D
I bough Subnautica, Stranded deep, Raft and some more games for nearly full price before the final release as many people too. So it's normal practice. Believe me, there were games with WAAAY less content in start of their EA.
Tarkov, when it appeared in market available to buy, was called Alpha too, but price tag was nearly hundred of pounds. So 30 bucks is quite usual price.

I can run well 75fps at Hogwart legacy but all graphics are lowest. But not this game, guess they need to optimize the game.

Hmm OK, seems you simply don't know what the term "pre" stands for.
And it's your choice to gamble on ea games for full price.

There's a bug in the latest nvidia driver that causes a nvidia process to take up 10% of cpu utilization. If that's not the problem then just lower settings I guess. The game is foliage heavy so I assume would make fps a bit choppy.

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/

Download the latest dlss file.

Navigate to: SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Sons Of The Forest

Throw the new dlss file in there (backup the old file just in case nvngx_dlss.dll).

I had a 30FPS increase with the latest file, SotF is currently running an older version, for whatever reason.

Note this will only work on 20,30 and 40 series cards, while I had a huge leap with my 3070, my partner had no real change to FPS on her 2080super.

Its certainly worth a shot :)

5800x
3090
No issues at UW 1440p. By no issues I mean playable FPS on highest settings except fog turned down. And playable means 80+fps with rare dips below and more in caves.
