Stuck in the intro helicopter. No keyboard recognition.

I just bought it. I install it (Steam, Windows PC), run it, close it, reboot, open again, I go to settings, but I cannot reassign any keys to the keyboard, only to the mouse buttons.

I start single player, custom difficulty. Game loads and begins in some helicopter intro. It says to press S to skip, I press but it won't skip. The guy is sitting at the helicopter, the helicopter goes on forever. I cannot move or do anything. I try to move mouse, click mouse, press any buttons on keyboard. Nothing moves or happens, not even menus. The guy just sits in the chopper looking at "Fisheye" and the chopper keeps going apparently around the island nonstop.

What's this? My controls not registering?

it should be A - D to scroll left and right on the laptop then then E to close it, once you close it the next part will kick in, IT should have and show the keys on the laptop, if it doesnt then, yup, something is screwed it

Have you tryed verifying the games files to see if there is something it missed downloading / installing it

Hold S to skip otherwise look down at your laptop. The game will only start after you close that laptop

I'm on desktop PC, not laptop. Holding S doesnt work for me. Only thing that does ANYTHING is Ctrl+Alt+Del, so that I can task manager and End Process on this game. Otherwise the heli is just endlessly flying, and the dude sitting facing "Fisheye". I can't get him to move at all. I suspect the game won't register any controls at that stage, at least not keyboard.

in the game your character is looking at a laptop...have to use D key to scroll through pages until you can close it, no one said you were playing on a laptop yourself

yes but I can't look at the laptop, I only see the top edge

Unplug your controller and restart it.

I did unplug and replug my keyboard and mouse, tried restarting game and computer, no change.

The keyboard works outside the game, but the game won't recognize any controls. The mouse works in the menus, but when the game "begins", I can only see the cutscene without being able to interact in any way.

no idea, unless you have a controller plugged in or bluetooth to pc and game is making the controller default

I got main monitor (DisplayPort), 2nd monitor (HDMI), USB keyboard, USB mouse, USB to phone (5G USB mobile tether internet), USB microphone, and analog speaker input, that's all that is plugged in apart from the power cable.

go to settings, binds and instead of "S" set "Enter" as skip cutscene bind (or whatever key is being detected for your), skip all the cutscenes till you spawn and that's it, you should be fine.

Yet still the same issue remains
