How do I use the repair tool?

So I built a little prefab hut and an enemy destroyed the door, so I built myself a repair tool, but it doesn't seem to be repair the door, just make a hammering sound.

How does it work?

It's just a hammer. Look at the part you think is broken and hammer it with left mouse button. Nothing more to it.

Yeah I did that, but the damage seems to not get repaired. What about the door that got destroyed?

Not sure about the door. If I had to guess you probably gotta replace it manually with 3 half logs split the long way. The hammer works fine for me so far, you might be encountering a bug if it's not working for you, try saving and restarting the game.
