Host password protect multiplayer game.

Can a Host place a password onto a multiplayer game to deter toxics joining randomly and trashing the place, if so how ?

No, but you can set it to steam friends only and do it that way.
Check out the unofficial SoTF discord, they have a LFG section and that tends to fare alot better than publically open random games.

I don't see what would be so bad about having password protected servers. I mean even Space Engineers has the option. So does Minecraft.

It isn't that huge a deal. If people didn't get off joining people's games and being an @$$hat, then it wouldn't even be needed.

The only problem with setting it to friends only is someone recently said people are able to bypass that and join with like an account that is exactly like your friends or your own
