Is the pistol/9mm/glock underpowered?

I have shot ordinary cannibals in the head and it seems to not always be an instant kill- I swear it only downed this one sweater-wearing cannibal when I thought I had killed it. The golden mask wearing giant cannibals are able to tank multiple 9 mm headshots, feels a bit ridiculous, I haven't tested shooting them in the head from behind to get around the mask, which I guess might be a mechanic?

Considering that the ammo is rare if you don't exploit by reloading at an ammo spawn point, I feel like any gunshot to the head should be an instant kill for any cannibal, even if they're a big mask wearing brute. Feels so underwhelming having to waste 3 or more shots on a mid tier enemy, especially when the ammo is so scarce. Like what is the pistol even good for if you can't use it against a big cannibal as a quick fix. The flimsy little bow made from a bent stick seems to perform just as well against the giant golden mask cannibal, feels very disappointing and underwhelming. Really hope this gets tweaked, both for the sake of immersion and more satisfying gameplay.

Feels pretty bad yeah especially considering how relatively little ammo you find for it.

Well i mean i would say getting your head impaled by a spear like 5 times for the big guys i think they can walk a 9mm off it shouldnt be to op for big stuff or the big muties

pistol is a weapon you can get at the start of the game. if you want it stronger just get revolver.

Ok but ammo is way harder to find than spears, and you can't just retrieve it after its fired. I'm fine with the mutants being bullet sponges, but it just doesn't feel right for the mask cannibal, since he's basically just a big tall guy. Would be really satisfying and badass to just be able to pull out the pistol and dome this giant brute in the head for an instant kill- there's a big David vs Goliath vibe to it.

I think a head shot should be a head shot. Breaks immersion for me they getting back up after.

You can get it at the beginning of the game yeah, but the way the game is set up, ammo is pretty rare and you're supposed to only really pull out your guns as a last resort against a super strong enemy. It'd make sense if the big guy's mask was able to tank multiple hits from arrows shot from a stick bow, but a gunshot should be a show stopper (which I think is pretty justified from the relative rarity of ammo and the fact that you can't just craft it like arrows).

yea it would be cool i know what you mean but it is the starter gun and saying how the game is i dont think they are ever going to give it a real buff when ever i start my match with friends or the next time i play i just try to do a little stop by the spawn and the machete boats get my little restock in

Every cannibal except the heavy cannibals (the ones that sparta kick you) die from 1 head shot for me. The only time the other cannibals don't die is when they're wearing armor on their head. I'm playing on Hard mode by the way.

5? Seems high bro. I kill most in one head shot, two for cave mutants and the giant boys with clubs and gold masks. The only ones who take more have head armor. Though this is on normal, my friends refuse to play on hard atm So my solo is on hard but havent been able to play it much.

9mm is ok imo. Ease of use keeps it balanced vs damage done vs available ammo. Takes more skill to consistently head shot with spears etc. The xbow is a bit too strong imo.

but with all the game is its really easy to chease it with just save give all the ammo to a friend and gg ez clap has been that way even with the first game or quit reload get your restock like how i said in the other comment really best way to do it is the nades and timebombs for alot or big guys then spear to the head for small i use the gun cuz lazy

i just head tap them with the spears alot the big guys with the clubs they just fall down i run over pick my spear from there head and repeat im playing on hard also so idk can do the same with the finger mutant or whatever its called spear head stun grab repeat

Playing on hard the big guy seems to be taking atleast 3 9mm gunshots to the head to kill. I didn't realize there was a revolver though, would love to know if it is powerful enough to one shot the masked chieftain with one well-placed shot.

if u want 1 tap everyone then revolver it is. This game act like old video game this pistol got this damage and this pistol got more ammo and look compact (Swing something pistol) so it do less damage. revolver u 2 tap tall guy and fat man. Also if u look closely I think tall guy got their head hurt somehow that why they look little creepy. Something must be wrong with them and they probably wont feel anymore hurt even get headshot on

Armor also block ur pistol but shotgun will do it
there other use of pistol tho. I let u play the game and find it urself. it better
also the sliver white guy shot ur heli carrying one. I sus one day I going to have that revolver and it true
