Discovery is obviously not part of your brains processing power.
They announced that it wasn't going to be finished 2 weeks before release. that insinuates that they thought the game was going to be finished and something caused them to change things. currently, they only said they will be adding items and polishing them game. If we take their word then that means that almost all of what we see is final except some new items.
you don't announce a game is going into EA 2 weeks before release because you want to fix the majority of the story.
Some day you'll figure out what Early Access means, then you'll feel silly for making this thread.
It means jack squat. every game in early access ends up using i differently. some times its to beta test, sometimes its for alpha, sometimes the games don't even work. It currently feels like they have chosen to use it as a cop out for not completing the game. i would respect the choice to use EA access if they had made it clear a year ago when they were hyping the game. not 2 weeks before the big release.
thats why I don't respect the choice. they just slapped the EA tag on it with little warning to be able to fall back on.
Their post launch Q&A is completely abysmal as well. Since their initial Q&As with Farket they seem to be taking the “We have plans” and “We can try” approach. The only things that seem to be being worked on are dedicated servers, some form of transportation, and maybe the log sled. That is the worst news they could have delivered
Endnight is truly preparing to shield itself from any liability it will get once their poor practices are noticed
If they were still the small indie team that made the forest 1 then i would give them a lot of slack, but they are the same dev team with experience and about 9 figures of money. The current state is abysmal for what they are capable of.
You clearly saw what state game is in, and you are wondering why EA? Developers don't play their games, they have no idea if things are working correctly in any situation and EA is a great source of feedback. They stated that they removed many mechanics and elements from the game to be reworked and maybe added later if needed. The giant mutant from first trailer for example.
If they released full game that would be it, no new content, some small bug fixes and optimisation.
I personally prefer EA over 17 DLC's you need to additionally buy to get couple of new building pieces and skins for your character, like many of the developers are doing nowadays. If you want to help, go to suggestions forum and write what you would like to see added/changed, because that's the only forum devs are actually reading
You also make it seem like just because they don’t launch the game in EA that they’re just incapable of ever working on the game again. They can release a stable 1.0 version and still update past that
I also don’t think them making this game a full 60 dollar game, or even charging for DLC would make this game better. Endnight for a lack of a better way to say it, is just incapable of delivering a solid product in a timely manner. No amount of money would change that.
This is second game that they are making, I'm sure you can understand that they have zero experience even if their first game was a success.
And those QA testees played the game for 2-3 hours testing only single mechanic. Farket tested building, nothing else. He provided feedback about building and some of his suggestions ended up in the game.
At the end, they can deliver whatever they want to deliver and whenever they want to deliver it. They could announce that they will be abandoning the game instead of releasing it as EA and go work for other developers or whatever. They don't owe any of us anything
It's funny how no one is arguing the OP's statements but can only respond with "eARlY AccESS bRO!"
