Virginia, Bug or Feature?

Hello devs and players,

so after like 37 in game days in the forest I noticed that Virginia is kinda odd.

At first she stayed with me and followed me arround, I got her a GPS and the pistol, but i think she stayed around because I was around the shelter all the time building stuff, never went pretty far away.

As I was beginning to explore over large distances, she now simply goes on her way without ever returning. around 15 days have passed since she didnt even step towards the shelter, I never hit her or she never died yet she keeps going forward, and forward...

The only way to bring her TEMPORARLY to the shelter is to go where she is, do whatever her mind desires, and then slowly letting her follow me, all across the map like i have nothing better to do than to take care of her (which is exactly what many fans expected she will be like, a pain in the butt) and then after all that effort (going large distance, avoiding cannibals/fighting cannibals, trying to reason with her through weird interactions) she leaves AGAIN the second i go out exploring. Trapping her is useless, because even surrounded by defensive walls or tall walls she either goes through them or she spawns outside (just a theory though, but somehow she manages to be outside the walls, roaming alone)

CONCLUSION: Is this a bug or is it intentional? is this a way to force me out of my shelter area? Because i think its not a good way. Why would I invest time, effort & items in a companion that does whatever she wants and then runs away with precious guns? Why would i give her a gun if she's not there with me when i'm attacked?

I'm having the exact same experience and it's really annoying!

My biggest gripe so far is she doesnt engage until i get hit. She stands there pointing at them and wont fire until Im engaged.

Not sure but I think she's heading for shelters I put up around the map. Started removing them and she went towards another. I think it's a bug

yeah, i have the same issue.. she hasnt been back to my main base since i went off across the map :(

Personally I prefer it this way.. SOMETIMES, i'm trying to avoid confrontation.. Idk if it's true, but I read that cannibals / mutants will sometimes run away and come back with more enemies if you overpower them or kill their allies in front of them. And there are times when i'm just trying to build or gather resources and CONSTANTLY am getting attacked.

WRONG I have seen here run towards the enemies and shoot them with the shot gun this is without me having to engage the enemy

Dude read all threads many people have already stated that people are exspecting a lot form and erlie accsess game, I can tell you now with The Forest that will have no new updates maybe some hot fixes but that would be it now when Sons Of The Forest comes out of development there will be more to do then the first game then you would see the difference between the both The Forest and Sons of the forest and the other reason why this game is more diffrent from the Forest is because player that played The Forest was just minecraft building in the game then leaveing the game so that is when the developers decided to not make it that easy anymore

correct she is the daughter of Mr Puffton and Mrs Puffton and her dad gave here everything from his will after he went missing for 31 weeks

also when you pick up pieces of paper it will tell you a bit of the story if you take your time to read and understand what happened Remember quote you are safe in the Cube the people on the island was not in the cube and there where transformed into mutants and every mutant you encounter where at some point a human being on the island before something was created and cycles ever so many years Only I and other players took notice of that story while most players just speed run the game then complain about complementing the game

I had the same problem... She was always at one spot for me. Turns out, I left a shelter in an cave and she was always standing above it... So I went back into the cave, and destroyed it and now she is always at my "real" base!
