Imagine that.
They don't do anything but RUN away from you. Come on.
Honestly, I agree with you. If someone's phobia is that sever that they need a mode that removes something as benign as ambient spiders from the game, they need to seek therapy. I'm petrified of swimming and the shark, but I still do it and just kill the shark. I'm not looking or asking for a mode that removes it from the game.
I'm not trying to put anyone down. It's clearly a sever phobia warranting help if something as harmless as the visual spiders triggers anxiety enough to suggest a mode that removes them. I would think that seeking help to get past something that extreme is more supportive that being callous and telling someone to get over it.
And I'm better for it.
And I had arachnaphobia when I was young. I got over it by naming a spider in my shower instead of killing it. And there it lived for a couple of months until I got a new roommate and he killed it. I still have quite the response (moreso for anything that resembles a brown recluse), but I'm not completely losing control anymore. And video game spiders do not trigger anything (unless they're going to hurt my character, in which case it's the same response as anything else).
You have complete control to help yourself get over your irrational fears. Your choices are do something about it and grow or do nothing and remain unnecessarily fearful.
