- Or just accept that permadeath is how the game works?
"why can i fail in this game? this is stupid i should win regardless of what i do" modern age mainstream entitlement in a nutshell.
It's a deliberate design decision. You don't have to like it, but it won't change.
Just stop. You sound like a fugging idiot right now. If players in SP want no perma death, should be an option.
IF YOU PERSONALLY don't want to use it, don't. But don't shove your personal snowflake feelings onto others just because you don't like how they play a game THEY bought with their own money.
Talk about feeling entitled.
If you're smart, you get out of there as quickly as possible, return to your own camp, eat, drink and rest. Following a good sleep, you will recover and can take a beat down again and survive.
There are a few exceptions to this. A good long fall will simply spatter you across the ground dead, no second chance. Being eaten by a shark will also have this same effect, as there's nothing left to recover.
Step 2: load your last save if you die wtf?
Um.... the snowflake outlook would be that of needing the an option to turn off permadeath, not the other way around. The word 'should' is not applicable to game design, versus the word 'could' and in the spirit of this game, it is in line with the spirit of this game to have permadeath as the only option. The whole point of this game is to learn how to master the world through attempt, fail, attempt again, succeed, then fail on next attempt, until you are able to last and then thrive based on all the knowledge you gain, your actions/timing, and a bit of luck to pull off the win.
We do understand that it is not convenient to just have unlimited responds, but guess what, you can get that by beating the game outright the correct way, as I assume they will unlock that creative mode that ensures there is no way to ever lose.
If permadeath is not something you can live with(Pun?), I would suggest this game series is not for you, or perhaps you rally the troops and get your pals in the mix, so you can cruise through the game on easy mode with a bunch of helping hands covering your back and allowing you the lack of fulfillment and instant but short term gratifications, that will lead to long hours or boredom and callousness as you cruise through each cave with ease and hold up with your endless resources in your impregnable fort.
Without reading all of the posts...
Give the thread creator his "no perma death mode". Why? In MP it seems to be the same, or? So in a MP Lobby you can die as much as you like without an issue, while in SP you are forced to use the "clubbed down and dragged to camp" mechanic.
OR remove it from MP as well and put in permadeath there as well :P
There's no perma death in the game. Maybe on hard mode.
If it was perma, you'd lose your savegame as well and had to completly start over after you died..
It works the same way like it did in the first game.
In most other SP game you have to reload immediatly after you died.
So I relly don't see your issue.
