How long do trees take to respawn?
I saw that they do respawn over time but I have no idea if this is true or how long they do take to respawn. Also if i get rid of the stump once a tree is cut will that tree no longer be able to come back?

I personally have not seen a single respawn yet. I am on day 31 currently and none of the trees I cut have respawned (and I cut down a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trees). Maybe it is bugged or not implemented yet.

Apparently, according to other players, trees do not respawn in this game, regardless if the stump stays or if you chop it away.
Some say trees respawn from saplings, but also seems not confirmed yet

Trees are respawn or grow back. But if you cut the Tree stump then nothing will grow again.
I heard they dont respawn, but there isnt really a need to have them regrow really, as the game is a short game, and there isnt a need to keep building, or even really build a base in the first place.

Source? Just curious to get a definite answer to this.

stumps disappear by themselfs now after awhile has passed. bushes and trees and even stick trees dont regrow. atleast not in a timeframe where it would matter anymore. some people simply make claims by useing old game information which is no longer true here.

but this hardly matters. the game is so short currently there is just no need for it. and base building has been rendered meaningless mostly aswell with all the safe underground shelters.

safe bases above ground are now impossible due to the fact that the game will just spawn enemies whereever you build. even on actual islands.

the only place thats halfway safe above ground is building on the big lake on the east side when its winter and its frozen over. sadly this also means during winter enemies can just walk over aswell.

all methods to make a safe base have been removed entirely from the building options.

Even if you leave stumps they despawn after couple of days, guess info was false. Haven't seen any tree respawn by day 42, all the stumps I left are gone through

There seems to be two different thoughts on this:

On GINX: it states:

Trees in Sons of the Forest will grow back from new saplings around the chopped tree, but this takes a considerable amount of time to occur. Players can also break the stumps of trees up to clear the area by holding the hatchet for a few seconds. Again, like in The Forest, trees will regrow when the stump has not been broken down.

So, in summary, if you want trees to regrow in Sons of the Forest, it's best not to destroy the stump after chopping down a tree.

But on Twinfinite:

trees do grow back in Sons of the Forest. However, there are some catches that you need to be aware of.

For starters, trees won’t grow back in exactly the same place where you cut them down. Instead, new saplings will appear and start to grow around them, reaching their full size after a certain amount of time has passed. You can make time pass by playing the game normally and allowing the title’s day and night cycles to trigger a few times.

This in turn means that trees will never grow back from the stumps of trees that you’ve already cut down. As such, we’d highly recommend dismantling stumps with an Axe in order to further clear out the area and provide more room for saplings to grow.

In general, you’ll want to prioritize cutting down trees and clearing away their stumps in heavily wooded areas. Doing so will ensure that the highest number of saplings possible begin to regrow quickly, and that they’ll stay concentrated in a singular location for you to return to when you need more wood.

From PCGames:

Sons of the Forest trees grow back from saplings in the dense forest areas of the open-world game. They do not regrow in exactly the same place, and take time to reform. However, this does mean that if you are building in a tree-filled area of the Sons of the Forest map, you will never run out of wood. Trees don’t grow back from stumps, so feel free to wield your Sons of the Forest modern axe and chop down stumps to clear space for your camp.

So, just ensure there are plenty of Sons of the Forest trees around you when you start building, and you’ll find that, over time, they’ll replenish for you to chop down once more.

So one says don't cut the stumps.. the others say to cut them.....

Kind of hard to determine which is right.

Would be nice if a Dev could weigh in...

I cannot say I have seen trees respawn the way they did in The Forest. I have seen new saplings, aka Stick Trees, sprout up after a time, where a tree had been felled before. I have not seen any of these grow into Log Trees yet though.

Personally, I think this is how it should go... Tree Stump spawns Sapling spawns. Saplings over time are replaced by larger, more useful trees.

One of my favorite aspects of The Forest, and seen in a limited scope here, is planting and growing things. Already got a nice Fireweed farm going, but...

Planter boxes and window planters are only so-so. I liked the outdoor ground farming of The Forest, and I wish, really wish, we could collect either tree-seeds (acorns/pine cones/gutter-clogging-helicopters, whatever) or Tree Sproutlings to replant and allow to grow wherever there is just plain old ground.
