Host a server from your PC and invite your friends via Steam... there are no fixed servers like in ARK and co if I'm not mistaken.

I don’t think that’s what they were asking for help with. I was dealing with this issue before and you whenever you click to play multiplayer in the game, no servers show up. You can’t even accept invites from friends

This is what happened to me and this is what I did to fix it.
You have to go in this folder location on your PC:
\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves\[RANDOM LONG NUMBER]/ (if you can't find this file, press Windows key + R and type appdata. Then click LocalLow, Endnight, etc...)

Once you're in the file with the random long number (like 76561198019728029 or something), you should have a file named Multiplayer and MultiplayerClient. Rename the MultiplayerClient file to Multiplayer. This will make them one file. Restart your PC and multiplayer should work.
There is one problem with this though. You will lose all the progress you had on the server you were playing on. To fix this you need to put the wanted save file into the folder

Did you allow/whitelist Sons of the Forest in Windows Defender when you get the pop up prompt asking about what kind of network permissions the app/game should have? If not, chances are your PC is just blocking out the connection so you can't see the multiplayer stuff.

Imagine you need to change the game files to play a game.
