Yes

Sadly, yes.

I just assumed it would be UE or something. Badly disappointed to see this engine still being used to make 3D games in 2023.

Well at least there's a non-argument option for exclusive fullscreen. But performance is as you'd expect from an engine that's not fit to make anything more than a board game.

Rust has fairly good performance and it's on Unity lol

Rust has changed its build once since it's beta and it has an amazing talent with its dev team. None the less, Unity is considered a poor choice for 3d first person games because the engine is easy to learn but hard to code for. The few 3d first person games on Unity are Rust, Escape from Tarkov, and Subnautica. All are great games, but look at the programming side of them all and you will notice a common trend. They are clunky with interactions and tend to be limited in what they can do code wise. Most games using Unity tend to be simplistic top down flat games or mobile games. The Unity engine is easy to ♥♥♥♥ up in code if you aren't great at codding. The devs that worked on both this game and The Forest obviously show that they can easily ♥♥♥♥ up Unity's code to the point that they can't fix it. This is the main reason why I think they are gonna have a really hard time fixing this game.

Exactly right.

Many games i love, which are in Unity, but damn i wish it was something else.

If they switched engines for SotF, they probably would of been able to make the game in a decent to good state without all the technical issues you see right now. But I have a feeling that this game is gonna sink like the Titanic being hit with three icebergs, pinball style.

You have a fair point. I don't know about programming but there are a looot of bugs :D

But don't confuse correlation with causation.

I trust the developers are in a much better position to judge the proper engine for the game than players, or casual observers.

I hope the Unity new "Pay per install" tax do not go foward.
Its basically the CEO of EA acting like darth vader:
"I Am Altering the Deal, Pray I Don't Alter It Any Further."

Do you even know how to code? C# is an easy language and the programming is the same as any other game engine no matter if it's C# or C++ etc.

Just because Unreal has a blueprint system only makes it a touch easier for people who don't know how to code but for me the blueprint system in either Unity or Unreal is just a restriction. I do C# programming and you can make and do whatever you want and there is no limitation but your skill set.

No one in this thread (except batty251) has any idea what they're talking about
Ataxio Jun 5, 2024 @ 11:09am
Yeah the most entitled and logically bankrupt person definatly knows what they are talking about.

100%, yeah. Sure. :papyrus:

Still Unity. Why Unity is bad [FOR PLAYERS] - checkout Unity "Enemies" demo (.exe and YouTube) that runs in 30FPS on 4090 lol. And another thing is that they probably pre-rendered the teaser for the demo cause the actual demo has changes in geometry and graphics quality (lighting is worse, hair is worse in the .exe demo). Haven't seen good graphics + good fps with unity yet..
