Avoiding sharks?

Is there a way? I want to swim out to that liferaft but I'm too scared.
Are the sharks still there in winter? Or is there some way to avoid them?

Just do it. He only hits you once on your way there and you can just kill him with arrows once you're on the raft.

Swim out, get hit once, recover your health, kill the shark, swim right on back with your loot.

I swam there and back and he never bit me; oh and there was two of them lol
I was scared to go out there too. And the cave sharks scare the crap outta me; every time I was in a cave and had to dive in the water I was worried.

best way to get out to the raft is to just have full health and dont stop swimming until you get there if you were hit on the way over heal before going back in, if you are really worried (which you shouldnt be they arent that dangerous) you can put on some armor before going in

I just make sure I have at least 3/4 stamina bar available (if less, you will most probably deplete it before reaching the boat) and go to a straigt line... and back, ignore the shark, it bites once and you survive.

From what i observed, the shark isn't much of a threat.
Even though he might bite you once, it takes quite a while until he attacks a again.
I was swimming outside the raft trying to get killed by him for the achievement, but it actually took some effort and chasing by ME too actually get it.
So, don't be scared, he doesn't seem to be much of a threat so far.

best is to use some armor, even leaf one, and you will almost not notice the bites. I was lil bit scared but only some armor was gone, and I tried not to look at it xdd

Hello. I was a little hesitant at first while doing the raft thing. But yeah you get hit once. The thing was, I didn't know about any spoilers when swimming out to the raft. So that made it more nerve racking lol.

With folks reading this, that should alleviate some worries. But yeah, those who are doing it the first time, hope you over came that. Just bought the game yesterday, enjoying it so far.

Knowing the shark will now hit you once, takes the excitement out for some lol. Wonder if future patch will make it random (if you get hit more then once). Maybe once on the way to the raft and once on the way back to shore. But in no particular order. Or get bite twice on way, etc etc.

This way you have to swim out in either full health or mostly healed up before swimming out. And you knowing it will bite you, just not when.

Apparently it's only 1 shark, if you kill it in the breather cave, it doesn't show up when you go on the lifeboat
3 arrows at normal level are enough to kill the shark
I haven't played enough to know if he reappears if you exit the game and load your save again

Its 2 sharks by that liferaft.
But i was there 4-5 times ..got bitten once ...notn is happening with this sharks ...just swim , u will be fine xD

Ps, there is the gun ...get it .. give it to virgina she will have infinite ammo , sleep ...go back get urself the same gun, its respawning ..like everything else :D

Everyone else got lucky. I died before I even made it to the raft. I never stopped as I've seen quite a few playthroughs and thought the same as everyone else. Get hit once and be fine. Nope the thing hit me 4x and I died 2m from the raft.

Well, the shark definitely is biting more than once, I tried twice to get to the raft and it killed me both times before getting to it. Is there some way to get now there?

You can use the glider to land directly on the floating raft. Also swimming backwards work perfect because you can see the shark and avoid it's attacks.
There's also a thing that barely get's noticed by players, but the rebreather cave hints that you can use limbs and throw them into the water to distract sharks. You can also kill it 2 spears or shoot it with the pistol. So you have a lot of options

I always choose one direction and close my eyes and swim until I hear my self on land haha 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
