If you liked the first game, IMO, you will love this one. Better visuals, quality of life improvements, lots of new gear, new story, new land to explore, new enemies. For me, it is a good time in a big way. I'd say more, but I'm about to start playing again even though I'm supposed to be working.

As for OP's question, I would replay The Forest for now if you're itching to kill more cannibals. The game is very good, with a much bigger map, but it feels empty at times due to being in Early Access. The story is also somewhat incomplete, after beating it twice, I am still confused on what the story is supposed to be for SoTF. There are new weapons, some of which are interesting, while others are very strong. You can't upgrade weapons like before where you could add teeth to an axe, but they may add that feature as the EA continues. My vote is, if you are 50/50 on if you should spend your $30, I'd say to wait towards the end of EA, or the real launch of the game. In it's current state, it may not be worth $30 to you.

There is a sled! You can get it by 3D printing it.

From my own experience avoid it for now it isnt worth of nearly 30e rather buy something else which will provide you more fun for same or lower price. I never refunded game but sadly this one is my first, really disappointment

no they used the same code from the forest and still could not get it right the story is super trash and feels like they could not be bothered

If you were on the journey the original Forest went on and pushed through the development and had a blast.... then yes. Buy it.

Otherwise wait a month or so. It is a good game but still needs some love.

Wait for the full release. It's super unbalanced right now. Building is more precedural and realistic, but enemies are way more aggressive and can knock down defensive walls in a couple swings. Enemies show up 5 or more, in the first 10 days if you stay in one spot for a half a day(in game).

If you enjoyed the "running frantically through the woods away from enemies" part of The Forest, then you'll probably like SOTF in its currrent state. However, if you actually enjoy crafting and building defensive bases, dont even bother. Had to spend 3 days away from my base just to aggro the constant hordes to another location. I was able to return and build stuff for only another day before enemies started showing up in number again. Day 10 from SOTF feels like Day 35 from The Forest

i dont reccomend playing it in its current state, has a lot of bug, the game could be balanced better, not much to build, the new realistic building system is jank right now, and the story is absolute ass.

theres some good stuff in the game like the new cannibal AI,the seasons and the melee weapons dont feel as useless compared to the first game but other then that, not much is here.

The bugs are pretty doable and I think the game is in a far better state then I initially expected. For me it was worth it.
