1. Stack logs horizontally (laying down), NOT upright.
2. The ropes are attached to the upper corners of the wall you build. Climbing ropes are attached to the upper middle. You might need to move around back and forth a bit until you get the prompt to attach a rope to a corner.
3. In my experience so far the other end of the rope has to attach to a wall of an equal height, I wasn't yet able to attach a rope to a much higher or much lower target than the one the rope started from. I haven't experimented much though.
4. You attach one corner rope then attach a second rope in the other corner. Once they've attached you place split logs into the open space between the ropes to complete the bridge.

I hate to break it to you, but the lake water freezes in the winter. Sadly, I just found this out after building a nice base.
@desdemona We're building out there now and were planning on moving to a "winter cabin" when the lake freezes. Got the bridge, elevated house on the island, and spikes pointing into what will be the ice sheet. Do you know if they will attack structures if you're not around?
Note that Kelvin will not walk over a bridge that goes over water no matter how deep the water is. I've tried it. He just stops at the edge. Annoying.
I'll suss it out eventually. Have fun all.
