Rope bridge can't build
I'm doing as the build book says, but can't attach the rope. Tried different ways YouTube vids show, still can't attach the rope.
Anybody else experiencing this?

it has limited range so it might be that ?, it becomes red after you go to far with trying to connect it.

Trying to buld a base on the island in the lake, bridging across to get across with logs easier. Ther's probably an easier way. lol

You have to attach them to horizontal logs, and you usually have to be directly above the place you want the rope to connect to. The white dotted line will snap into place when you're able to place it.

It was a little finicky but I got the rope bridge to work as intended.

1. Stack logs horizontally (laying down), NOT upright.

2. The ropes are attached to the upper corners of the wall you build. Climbing ropes are attached to the upper middle. You might need to move around back and forth a bit until you get the prompt to attach a rope to a corner.

3. In my experience so far the other end of the rope has to attach to a wall of an equal height, I wasn't yet able to attach a rope to a much higher or much lower target than the one the rope started from. I haven't experimented much though.

4. You attach one corner rope then attach a second rope in the other corner. Once they've attached you place split logs into the open space between the ropes to complete the bridge.

if your trying to make the bridge to the island you will need to put the one end fairly far under the water. Stand out in the water just before your character swims then crouch, then lay down log as deep as you can. if you see the spot with two roots underwater on the rolling side of the island you want the log at the 2nd root under water. It will be at its very limit for reaching across. It's a headache to do mostly. If you have the rope gun id say just make some zips back and forth.

I hate to break it to you, but the lake water freezes in the winter. Sadly, I just found this out after building a nice base.

@desdemona We're building out there now and were planning on moving to a "winter cabin" when the lake freezes. Got the bridge, elevated house on the island, and spikes pointing into what will be the ice sheet. Do you know if they will attack structures if you're not around?

For the rope bridge ignore the guide. I think it was created first and they changed it later. All you need is 2 posts and a horizontal one on top of them on both sides of your bridge. Then get your rope in hand and point it at the top horizontal beam and you will see an indication to either put one going down (a climbing rope) or put one that is level. You want the arrow that is level. Then it will let you drag that to your other side. If it is too long it will turn red where it starts to be too long. Do this with both ropes. Keep in mind the second one looks like it is off centered but when you add it, it adds perfectly aligned where it should be. Then add your cut in half planks (1 log cut in half long ways) to the bridge and you are good to go. If your bridge 'ends' are not perfectly aligned you get a really weird looking bridge.

Note that Kelvin will not walk over a bridge that goes over water no matter how deep the water is. I've tried it. He just stops at the edge. Annoying.
