Game crashed and lost 8 hours of gameplay

Decided to start working on our base on my friends server. Got a nice stack of logs built up and i kept hearing water further inland. Suddenly the game crashed and when i logged back in i was in the helicopter. I don't know if the game saves on both ends like it use to but i have no file record of save even after he restarted the server. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

There is a weird game crashing bug for hosts relating to water, my friend freezes when this happen.

I suspect it could be audio desync or something.

all players, host and friends alike, should be saving at a bed whenever they can. The game does not auto save and your character data is not saved if just the host is saving. It is based on the individual character.

Yes i did manually save multiple times. I had left and came back with no problems up until that point.
