Some caves dont go anywhere?

In the snow me and a friend were baited by the cave maker probably 2 or 3 times figuring there was a place to use story items, but there just had meager supplies and dead ends. Are these supposed to be expanded later into early access or are we supposed to blow open an entrance? Otherwise its stupid to bait people halfway across the massive map for some duct tape.

Some of the caves are exits for the bigger cave systems that are tied to story progress / item progress. They made those exits dead end so you can't go through the exit of the cave and get to stuff easier like you could in The Forest.

Yeah right. I also had several off these caves. Just a few skeletons and wooden crates with useless junk in it.

Yep, mostly on the other side of the mountain. Some caves will have a dead body or two, maybe some crates to break with loot, and that's the whole cave.

i found a cave which looked like dead end, but had a hole above. had to use grappling gun and found an electric chainsaw.

Yes there are like 4 caves that are just one big empty room with some canned food inside.

Yes, this is the exit of another cave. You're supposed to collect the access cards and enter the cave through the main door. But nice idea to use the grappling gun!

oh i was wondering why that place had a door that i cannot open which clearly looked like it could be opened (but thats probably the normal way in) and there was even music playing behind the wall. yeah the grappling gun wasn't meant to be used that way because it was kinda wonky and there was only few spots where it could be used, and even then you had to jump glitch your way in.
