How to mark base on GPS?

I've made a little base with a bed and I'd like to have an icon marking it on my GPS so I can find it again if I venture out. Is there a way to do this?

Yes you have to find a GPS tracker. These are already marked as the purple exclamation marks on your GPS. Once you have collected one go back to your base and put a stick in the ground. You can then place the tracker on the stick. Supposedly you can change how it shows up but for me the change wouldn’t stay so it always shows up as the green battery looking thing.

Also one thing that I have missed in the first days: tarp tents appear as houses on the map, so you can make one around your house to see in on the map… unless you already spammed the whole island with them.

Same for me, you can change the icon when holding it but when you place it on the stick it only shows it on the map as the default green radio

That's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded. How is one supposed to ascertain that you need to place a stick in the ground and then place a GPS tracker on top of it in order to use it without being told directly? Why would you not assume that if the tracker is able to be used to mark a location then the game would let you just drop it on the ground or stick it to a wall?
