The only way for now is to be honest and just start from scratch after you died.
yeah our new oath is if we both die we close the game and rehost so it goes back to our last save, but it is a hassle, takes me out of the game, and it really should be part of the core system.
I usually save hardcore mode for a second playthrough, but they shld add that as an option for sure. One mode where it deletes your save, another mode called 'classic' mode where you respawn at the helicopter crash with nothing, but game state remains the same and your items are in your backpack where you died.
Really, this game is super casual. Just keep loading the savegame over and over and all the supply boxes are full every time.
There is alot wrong from a challenge standpoint.
It is a huge shame, honestly the difficulty is there if you turn all the hardest settings on, but the fact that dying is meaningless invalidates all of that difficulty instantly.
All the danger has been sucked out of the game, it's a shame because even though it's light on content, what is here is pretty good.
this is sadly correct.
i cannot even imagine HOW easy multiplayer must be currently. singleplayer on hard was already a joke. any experienced the forest player will eat this game for breakfast currently.
i am about to try a custom playtrough with ALL setttings cracked to MAX aside animal spawns which is set to low. will see how that goes but given the core design issues this game currently has i just dont see how they can make this game harder currently.
i mean even hard survival in the first game wasnt very hard if you know what youre doing. all the threads about people crying about difficulty and too many enemies are all players who DO NOT KNOW what theyre doing yet. but they start to make silly demands already.
once you cater to the mainstream you lose. period. and this game clearly does....sigh. another game falls to the overcasulization market trap.
maybe theyll add new modes down the line.
I dont even need a super hard game, it's just a shame that even in the rare instance that you die, there is no penalty. We made it to day 14 without dying and finally died in a cave to a mutant.
We respawned IN the cave, with all our stuff. Holy ♥♥♥♥ what a bad decision game design wise...
Ironically it would be more efficient to just blitz the cave, never use healing items, and just respawn when you want full health again. That is horrific design.
"Just delete the game and start over." is just a form of roleplaying/made up challange. It has nothing to do with actual gameplay mechanics.
