Got to a point where Virginia beckons you to follow her and she leads you to the boat on the waterfall. After pointing at it she'll sit down. No items on the boat. Is there significance to this?

No significance, happened to my gf when we played. Sometimes she'll take you to places of interest that aren't marked that'll have items, but if you already explored that area then it's just a waste of time.

After becoming your friend, she will sometimes "beckon" and lead you points of interest nearby. She lead me to a stun baton once and pointed at it. Then went back to being herself.

She will also offer small items at times too. Such as berries or raw fish. And she will defend you if you give her a weapon. Such as a pistol or shotgun. (She's a great shot too. Lol.) :p

she just leads me to the boat, before she leads me to a heli crash site with some loot - so it can be a good thing to just follow her if u havent explored the near environment yet..

Yeah, sometimes she leads you to an empty but beautiful place to sit down and have a good time with you. There is not always loot or a specific spot behind that.
