Inventory can be opened in the Pause Menu.

I paused my game to look at my key bindings and accidentally opened my Inventory while in the pause menu. I couldn't press Escape to close the pause menu, but it closed my Inventory. I had to press the Back button on the pause menu, causing me to swing my Axe and destroy a part of my house.
