Help building a tree house

So im hauling logs back and forth and placing them fine. But when i wanna place a plank it doesnt work. I can see the grey plank square on the outline but the little arrow is pointing on logs only.

So do i have to place all the logs first and then the planks?
If not, then how do i change what the arrow is pointing at?

yeah. there is now an order that you have to build it in. its more realistic as instead of just slapping ♥♥♥♥ onto it you have to build it up.

Yeah you have to place the logs first, to form the foundation. Then you add the planks onto it. It also depends if something is blocking the structure. I build a house near a cliff and couldn't attach the foundation with logs on the back of the house. Its finicky but try all you can! I think you can rotate with Q and E.
