animals falling in water

So I finally managed to kill a moose with just my spear but the sun of a ♥♥♥♥♥ ragdolled into 2-3 feet of water and guess what, you cannot skin animals underwater or move them out of the water, I would get the skin icon but for such a short moment I could never get it to work, I walked to a nearby tree to try to use a log post and get it to be skinnable but when I came back from walking maybe 20 feet away the body had despawned, this was not a pleasant experience.

also is anyone else constantly having spears disappear? I stuck one in a cannibal and when I pulled it out it dissapeared
