Sons of the Forest just keeps restarting my pc.

I can launch the game and get to the title screen. If I click options, computer shuts down. If I start new game, I can get like 1 minute through the intro cutscene, then shuts off. I skip the intro cutscene, it turns off. Been a huge fan of the forest for a long time, a shame I can't try out the second one. If anyone has any tips or fixes, would be much appreciated.

Sounds like overheating issue, or too weak power supply. What are your temps before shutdown?

game is using alot of power like 240 on ultra for me maybe set all on low than it uses way lesser like 100 for me

Not an overheating issue, I keep my MSI afterburner open to observe whilst troubleshooting myself, wouldn't even reach 80 degrees. I guess it could be power supply issue though, never had this problem before, I even tried changing power options (balanced, high performance, and 120% power limit with no reprieve. Never met an issue like this before though if my power supply is too weak for a game like this. Thanks for the reply :)

Change ur PSU in a more powerfull one, will solve your problem.

I'd like a fix that doesn't cost money, I already bought the game. I can't even upgrade with the case I have but I am not going to upgrade just to play this game right now, if worst comes to worst, I will just wait for it to be more optimized.

been having the exact same issue so your not alone. i am able to run every other game just fine but like you said whenever u try to skip or when the glass breaks in the helicopter in the intro it restarts the PC. might be our PSU cuz my temps and everything else are fine. hopefully a update comes soon.

I got a powerful Be Quiet psu and i get the same problem nonetheless. It's the game. It's not the PSU.

Heya Greetings!
I got the same exact issue and I'm continue doing test like below to solve it.
Here is what I tried without success so far.
* Admin Access inside sonsoftheforest.exe gamefile(properties).
* Uninstall re-install
* Change PC system settings to optimal high performance instead of a battery performance.

Alright, moving un to untested territory.

Related to the options as mentioned and you can't change it, there is a workaround if you have GTX or RTX Geforce Graphics Card.

Go inside Nvidia Geforce and try to change the settings there, and run it through Nvidea by hitting start.

I have an option that you can try next time you get the main menu screen without it crashing, but it's worth trying I guess? If you get to main menu, don't touch any buttons like option or multiplayer or singleplayer. Try doing this instead below and see if you get anywhere.

Go into Task Manager -> Select details -> Select Sonsoftheforest.exe -> Right Click -> Select Priority -> Try either doing High priority or under normal as the settings and then go back to the game and wait 10 seconds to calibrate and see if you now can press any of the buttons without it crashing.

Let me know the results you are receiving :)



FYI : I have checked, but there is not an easy access log file inside their project folder unfortunately to check what went wrong.

One thing I noticed I terms of my PC, is that my CPU is quite weak compared to their minimum required specs just FYI, could you perhaps list your CPU specs as well? (Also what Generation of intel or AMD, thank you)

I'm having the same issue I was playing it fine but now it shuts down my pc I have a 850w gold PSU I was tracking it up until it shut down no power spike or overheating issue.... Wtf is up with this game I can play games like scum maxed out with no issues

The most annoying bit to this is when my pc ♥♥♥♥♥ down I have to unplug it waiting for the system to drain out then I'll be able to turn my pc on again
