What to do after you find team B?

I followed the game's quest it gives you right after the intro, about finding team B, and found them all dead. Now what? I recovered two of their GPS locators (the other one is in a grave) and I don't know what to do with them.

I've found some caves which have nothing interesting inside and two green places marked in my GPS which required equipment I don't have to continue.

I explored around for a bit but only found a mostly empty forest (well, except for the hundreds of cannibals hiding every other bush).

What am I missing?

And, by the way, how can I make arrows? The recipe seems to say I need leaves, but I have a ton of those and the leaf icon is still red.

You need feathers, not leaves. Try to whack a bird or build a birdhouse.
