Ideally your not supposed to beat the game, do it once or watch a spoiler video and you'll lose significant interest.
What you really want to do is just explore the island, setup small campfires and build fences in new locations every night, till you find what you believe is the best place to start building a fort.
Slowly build a fort, like spending over 5k logs over the course of a couple weeks. Get all those utilities up and running, you should have reasonable sources of fresh water, animal and native meat. Several towers, tonnes of traps, a massive maxing battlefield that you can easily navigate that the natives essentially suicide into for you.
Once your decked out in the best armors and weapons and have hoarded everything, then go master the caves.
I found beating the first forest ruined a substantial amount of the game.
Game is more fun building and surviving.
This game ist not EA, it is a demo of a game or a walking simulator.
The buildings in the game are a also a joke after years of development and enemies can destroy your walls in seconds for which you need 2h to build them!
The world is empty in this game, it is just big, thats all.
Most of the positive reviews are just joke reviews or reviews of guys who played 0.2h only (so fake)
Game-breaking ♥♥♥♥ alias "design" like no hotkeys. If you got attacked you need to longpress I for the bag and take a weapon, but you are already dead meanwhile lol
Perhaps this game will be good in far future, but at the moment, this is a fanboy-only title or people who will realize after 5-10h that there is nothing more.
I mean you may always play it like you want, but you'll get disappointed when rushing the game.
And you'll miss a lot of the story if you don’t take your time to find and examine all of the clues.
SOTF was meant to be for people who plan on playing it for a longer time, not for speedrunners.
Tbh if your asking that question though, it might not be the game for you. Highest enjoyment of this game is a bit of base building - if not, you miss a huge chunk of the game and might end up disappointed.
