"How long to beat"?
In reviews i have seen information that some guys played already trough the game in less than 8h.
I know it is EA, but is the scope of the game really so small at the moment?

It's more towards benchmark, presentation, beta than EA, if you rush it should take no more than 4-5h if you build no more than 10h. I know the fanboys are gonna throw darts at my profile for saying this but for now The Forest feels like a sequel and Sons of the forest as prequel.

If you rush and look up everything about it and rush it just to fly through then it's possible to beat it that fast. But your really losing bad! because if you play it right and actually Pace yourself and have fun because it's a wilderness survival / crafting/ exploring game then it could take you days or even weeks. Take your time build your base. Get to know your mpc's, investigate what happend and enjoy the game. It's a game that gives you freedom to go at your own pace and your own way but anyone who says they beat it that fast. Missed out on so much this game has to offer. Plus I believe more will be added later.

Was same with The Forest at this point of it's development.
Speedrunner any% did it in 20 minutes.

Ideally your not supposed to beat the game, do it once or watch a spoiler video and you'll lose significant interest.

What you really want to do is just explore the island, setup small campfires and build fences in new locations every night, till you find what you believe is the best place to start building a fort.

Slowly build a fort, like spending over 5k logs over the course of a couple weeks. Get all those utilities up and running, you should have reasonable sources of fresh water, animal and native meat. Several towers, tonnes of traps, a massive maxing battlefield that you can easily navigate that the natives essentially suicide into for you.

Once your decked out in the best armors and weapons and have hoarded everything, then go master the caves.

I found beating the first forest ruined a substantial amount of the game.

Game is more fun building and surviving.

"Hoarded everything"? There is not even something like a storage-system (beside stupid stones/wood)

This game ist not EA, it is a demo of a game or a walking simulator.
The buildings in the game are a also a joke after years of development and enemies can destroy your walls in seconds for which you need 2h to build them!

The world is empty in this game, it is just big, thats all.

Most of the positive reviews are just joke reviews or reviews of guys who played 0.2h only (so fake)

Game-breaking ♥♥♥♥ alias "design" like no hotkeys. If you got attacked you need to longpress I for the bag and take a weapon, but you are already dead meanwhile lol

Perhaps this game will be good in far future, but at the moment, this is a fanboy-only title or people who will realize after 5-10h that there is nothing more.

Honestly I mainly play this game as a building sim, I love to just make large af structures and see how long I can defend them. That's what I did with The Forest too. So it all just depends on what you were expecting as for me this game is easily 8/10 so far and will be 10/10 once some bugs are fixed

it took me 55 hours to get every achievement in the game. Very easy, if you focus on main story, you should finish it under 20 hours

Point of the game isn't to beat it ASAP.
I mean you may always play it like you want, but you'll get disappointed when rushing the game.
And you'll miss a lot of the story if you don’t take your time to find and examine all of the clues.

SOTF was meant to be for people who plan on playing it for a longer time, not for speedrunners.
it took me and my friend about 28 hours, but we didnt just try to only get the weapons and do a boss fight, that would be pretty boring anyways imo. we did a bunch of base building, exploring, setting up stuff in the base, defending it, mess around a bit too.

Like someone else said, depends massively if you look up where things are.

Tbh if your asking that question though, it might not be the game for you. Highest enjoyment of this game is a bit of base building - if not, you miss a huge chunk of the game and might end up disappointed.
