Driver timeout? If you're using a lot of overlays, afterburner, discord, running google too in the back, alt tabbing, multi monitors, and MPO is ACTIVE along side apps using HW Acceleration there's your issue.
Nvidia released a registry fix for this it's not just an amd issue.
I've never had it happen since owning a 5700 week one launch, and I've had a 6800 and now 6950 xt and still no issues, And in this game it's super smooth 115avg's typically dips to 90s in co-op though, Haven't crashed once or stuttered or anything at 2k ultra.
I'm also not running my GPU's with an OC like most people do by default, It is an OC edition but its not active, running the regular bios atm.
So MPO plus an OC? Fix it. Done.
Game plays wonderfully at max settings in 4k. No OC, all stock. The only issues I have are ragequits and loud yelling coming from myself.
Set your monitor refresh rate to 60Hz in Windows, and disable Freesync.
I also own a 5800X3D and a 7900XTX reference.
I turned on Vsync to 60Hz, and I even run a second monitor.
I have tried EVERYTHING before this. Just trust me: 60Hz from Windows, and Freesync off.
This isn't it. Its just a side effect. It's due to overlays, mpo registry and hw acceleration issues for AMD worse than Nvidia.
So what you did was a bandaid but not the fix.
This has been an issue for people for years, I haven't had it happen, but I've helped tons who have using amd.
You can turn your refresh rate back on, and freesync
disable HW acceleration in any apps in the background that have it, like discord, chromium based browsers, etc. Use the MPO reg fix nvidia has on their site. Done.
Disable radeon's overlay if you're using anything else to check temps fps etc.
Hello there,
Let's agree to disagree.
While this is a bandaid, it is indeed a solution PER SE, until there is a specific driver update for this specific game and specific graphics card.
In the meantime, please get out of the way and let other people with this issue enjoy the game :)
PS: I bet I am far more technical than you, and none of the overlay and MPO stuff helped, so please stop quoting endless threads which offer no solutions. TY
Don't even start the bs... lmfao I've helped countless people fix their AMD issues for a long time in quite a few communities. And don't even begin the "I'm holier than you with this technical stuff"
Funny what I've mentioned above has helped 8 people so far who've messaged me, Right?
But nah, I'm just spewing countless non justifiable information while you're assuming I'm some lesser aware troll just copy and pasting things that "DONT" work.
Get off the high horse buddy. No driver update will fix the issue. It's a windows issue in its self with AMD. HW Acceleration is BROKEN and has been for some time, And for some? Not as bad or at all as others. This is the issue for 90% of AMD time out issues along side an OC speeding the issue up a bit more to be more active than without an OC.
You're nothing but an idiot to reply like you did with that last line, Period!
Unsubbing, I can't stand the likes people as your self. So don't bother replying.
95% of driver timeouts are from people having unstable builds and blaming AMD.
By that, I mean it's either a GPU oc that's not 100% stable, or their CPU / Ram settings aren't stable.
Disable MPO first. Still crash?
Check your clocks.
Remember that a lot of gaming motherboard bios these days oc's your cpu by default. Such as Asus multicore enhancement. Disable all that ♥♥♥♥.
At least someone else gets it. Try explaining that to our buddy above with an ego like hell.
His 60hz fix was only due to limiting his GPU's fullest potential.
Too high of FPS with HW Acell issues and MPO, here comes the problems. The system is then unstable.
Turns all that off? Limits the GPU to 60, There goes the system being pushed into unstableness. #commonsense
Its a windows/system issue in its self.
Sadly, this is the PC gaming community these days.
I tried explaining to people that it doesn't matter how good their GPU is, and that they're clearly cpu bottlenecked and I got accused of spouting 'technical bs' and that the game needed optimising to use their full gpu.. lol.
These people don't usually want solutions or to fix anything, a lot just want to complain.
Pretty much. I literally get tired of it. The guy goes off yet I was merely saying what he mentioned wasn't a fix, its literally not. I've seen people do the same, IT was a fix in his scenario with an unstable system, Thats VERY obvious if limiting the GPU did that.
But nope, I'm the bad guy. lmao
Since you're so technical, can you explain the exact reason why capping at 60hz stopped you from crashing?
They wont explain it. You're using what? The same gpu and they blame those drivers as usual. As everyone using amd does typically.
ITS LITERALLY their windows/hardware alone.
People tend to forget, AMD Hardware is handled a bit differently when it comes to driver overhead and how things are processed. And if the system is unstable in the slightest bit some where some how or something interfering, it will time out vs Nvidia where their cards typically can recover and just work without issue or at least with out you knowing it recovered and kept working.
The only major difference is that when amds graphics driver crashes it tells you. Nvidias drivers crash and it tells you nothing the majority of the time, the game just closes down.. Lol.
I strongly believe that if amd took nvidias approach with just that alone, the 'amd driver bad' meme wouldn't exist. 😂
Literally hahah. It's rare nvidia tells you it had an oopsie.
And their drivers can actually recover while in game hence why its not as often an issue vs amd. But its why people will be like "Just got a massive stutter" or something with Nvidia. Either the system is having issues or the driver is meh and recovered before the game stopped.
That whole bad amd driver bs is hilariously dumb. I've been with AMD again since the 5700 launch, had it, the 6800 oc and now a 6950 xt oc and ZERO issues over the years besides minor hiccups in games that actually HAD real issues that were solved with the actual games update, not drivers, not a system issue.
AMD just has things working a tad differently and is and always has been more picky with system stability than anything. People refuse to believe it.
Fine example? Fresh windows build, popped my 6800 in my wifes pc with her 10700 build, crashes, issues with the screen going black and all that like people said. Put it back in my pc, zero issues, sold it to a friend, zero issues.
Her issue was simply the system, just never narrowed it down enough to find out why or cared to since she wasn't going to keep it anyway, wasn't power or anything being we have the same psu. Yet her 3070 ti is perfect. But its an obvious indicator something wasn't acting right.
