Considering the age Timmy is in now, the grey hair for Eric make sense.
Also, Timmy has the exact same scar.
Also, it can't be Edward Puffton, as there's a pretty big hint on what happened to him, seeing that there's something sitting at his table with his name tag on his place.
The first, and second game both had plenty of Crosses and religious missionary iconography.
the notes literally call them demons as well. It seems like the game is mixing Sci-fi with religion, which is hardly a new concept. The "demons" being from some other dimension, which implies the Cross is similarly
He probably got there with Timmy in order to help his son get cured through the cube artifact.
