Multiplayer isn't working?
I'm trying to play the game with my boyfriend. We are able to create a 2 people private server, both of us tried as host, but when it's time to actually start the game it only starts for the host and then the other person waits in the lobby. The person in the lobby has the text at the bottom that says "Waiting for host to start the game" meanwhile the host is already in the game.
We tried having one of us join the game first and then invite the other but it just takes the other person to the lobby where we can't do anything again.
Basically, multiplayer is just off brand single player with one person stuck in the lobby while the other gets to play the game.
Is anyone else having the same problem? And can anyone help?

wait a little? we noticed the same but a minute later it started loading me in just the same. if it doesnt work it might be network issues? i could imagine it stuggling with 2 persons coming from the same ip with one having reserved the ports etc since i dont think the game just runs on LAN. im not sure how the first game did that since i didnt play that.

id try joining someones online game, see of that works, or hosting for someone else online. it might as simple as opening up ports on the host.

After about two minutes of waiting it would boot you back to the menu. Unlike the OP I was running with a group of six people online (no lan), no matter who hosted I could not join. Same with random online open lobbies.

still might be as simple as your windows (or 3rd party) firewall blocking. or your router not letting through ports. look up what ports this game needs, forward them in your router. approve the game in your pcs firewall/antivirus.

I found the solution:
You have to go in this folder location on your PC:
\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves\76561198019728029/ (if you can't find appdata, press Windows key + R and type %appdata%, then click appdata at the top)

Once you'll be in the file : 76561198019728029, you should have a file name Multiplayer and MultiplayerClient. Rename it to MultiplayerClient to Multiplayer. This will make them one file. Restart game and multiplayer should work.
