This seems to have multiple causes and may take long to tackle. I'm literally in the same room with my friend and we can't see buildings right away. Can take 15-60 minutes to everything just spawn.

Nah, Already tried with and without vpn, its a problem with "logs" only! since every other kind of buildings are visible, only "logs" are not loading

I do not have my VPN on during multiplayer games due to them causing an incredible amount of issues with peer to peer connections though that might help someone else.

I similarly have noticed that it's buildings made out of logs. Though the initial log buildings we made at the starting zone around our downed helicopter were still visible even much later into the game. I suspect it's something to do with how the game sends and receives data corresponding to world cells and the new crafting system.

Guys I found it! This is legit!

1. install WeMod
2. Enable WeMod software when you run SOTF
3. Play multiplayer, if you have a save file, click Continue
4. Now if your friend is the host, and you cant see the structure that used log to build (treehouse, wall, etc) , you can press F10 first to enable the console command selection. (You will hear a chime or bell when clicking on F10, make sure the WeMod software is running)
5. Then, you click F1, a list of console command will appear
6. Last one, search the keyword sync, i think its Vsync, i will double confirm this because currently im at work, just key in vsync.
7. If you have a good PC with a good graphic card, you will notice the tree surrounding your area or the previous tree you cut will be disappearing, and the structure will be rendered in front of your eyes!

If you have a bad PC, prepare for lag.

8. If all structure is load, save and then play! Enjoy!

We've tried close to everything but it does not help at all. It makes the game unplayable.

We had the same issue. I am the host and my friend didnt see any buildings, but after a graphics driver update he never had that again

I have the same issue or at least a similar one. The server seems to have an issue syncing the state of the tree log structures.

Here is what we noticed:
  • when we load the game, everything is fine;
  • most new blueprint structures works fine;
  • all the log stucture do not work;
  • my friend cannot place any structure ( I am not sure what the problem was exactly I think the logs would duplicate and could not removed a placed logs) I would not see the logs he placed (or mayby I saw the first one cannot remember);
  • my friend cannot see any of the new structure I place and in my game he clips through
  • some blueprint structures do not work (ie: the watchtower).them;
We tried going to a previous save and it fixed the problem (probably mean that it is a server side problem). We played a bit with the save files and copied every file related to the structures (but not the weather and the player related ones). I could send you the list of the file we copied. The problem came back.

We tried importing the structures because the previous save is way back and if the solution is to go back to this previous save, we might just move on from the game.

If you need our saves, we would gladly share it to you, both the working one and the broken one.

We tried most of the suggestion listed here. Here is what we tried:
  • killing each player;
  • drowning each player;
  • going through a cave (we went to the mid-boss);
  • restarting the server multiple times;
  • loading all together, launching the server, then the client joined;
  • deleting the client data and leaving cloud save recharge the data;
  • sharing the Gamestatesavedata from the server to the client;
  • starting a fire;
  • We ended playing in this state for about 2-3 hours and it never changed;
Really love the game, hope this can be fixed soon. Thanks!

edit: Just noticed you have a thread for multiplayer bug with and email. I sent you the save files.

Since nothing really helped me - neither graphics card update nor WeMod, I have another possible solution for you.
For me, it helped to simply go into a cave and when I ran from this back to the building, everything was loaded correctly.

Would any of you and your friends be willing to try some things to help debug this? Player log files from both the client experiencing the issue, and the host will help us see where the problem is, but we need some additional debug information that the normal logs don't provide.

If you are willing to do a couple steps to set up logging, and send us the player.log file afterwards, here are the instructions:

Both Host and client have to do these steps
1. Open your steam library, right click Sons, select properties, and in the 'general' tab add "--logging" without quotes to the Launch Options field.
2. Locate the config file for the game: To find your config files; paste the following into the windows file explorer: %localappdata%\..\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest
3. Open the Text file in that folder named 'SonsGameSettings.cfg' and paste the following into it (Click the space right after any '},' press enter, and paste)
{
"Name": "RuntimeStructureDbLogVersionChanges",
"BoolValue": true
},
4. Both host and client load the save, and both players stand idle after loading in. Wait several minutes to see if the structures ever load in.
5. After waiting a while you can close the game, and send the player.log files, as well as saves from both host and client to evan@endnightgames.com

My brother and I just sent over some log files of this with save files and can send some video grabs as well if that will be helpful. Thank you so much!
