Yes, and you'll notice at the end you can remove the beams in the middle. They only have to be there temporarily.

Going though this same thing myself, I looked at the struts and now just scratching my head

okay, so you take a log, prop it up against your wall, take another log, and look at the part that's touching the floor, you'll see a curved arrow pointing up, click, you'll throw the slanted log up and put the log you're holding underneath, and boom, now you can build your roof just as you built your floor/foundation

you put joists up and then you wont have a beam coming from the floor it angles from the wall up to the roof

You remove the middle beams after all the diagonal struts are up. You can pick them back up and toss them outside for future use.
certainly an image with a red arrow pointing which log you dont want would be usefull, Im guessing which one but im not sure.

SOLVED!!!

I figured out how to build a roof without the support beams throughout the house. Go into the building book at look at the recipe for struts, as you can see in step 5 it says you can get rid of the two middle beams. I myself tried several times to delete those by whacking them with my axe and my whole roof would cave in. You are actually just supposed to look at the middle beams and hold c (if on PC). That will pick up the beams without causing the roof to cave in

you can't have zero beams, that's not how structures work after all.

pretty sure you arent supposed to have beamless structures for a roof that you can walk on, the game just doesnt have the physics calcs that well done.
