Unplayable on my higher end system
Not complaining. Please don't come with the torches and pitchforks :P. Just looking for possible help but also providing feedback that may possibly help the devs figure out whats going on for me and others. I have an RTX 3080, i9-12900KF CPU, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, SSD and the game plays well for the first cutscenes, maybe a full 60 seconds after I can control my characters, and then it goes to chuggsville. I dont mean the low FPS other people are having where its only going to 40fps or something... I mean I am dropping to single digit frames every few seconds for a few seconds. It's literally unplayable for me. I have tried dropping ALL settings to the lowest they can be or off as well as dropping the resolution to 640 x 480 Just to see what would happen. It happens SLIGHTLY less often, but still drops to single digit frames every maybe 20-30 seconds instead, regardless of if I am moving or just idle in menus.

That's really strange, I don't think it's hardware related, I know I'm running on a 1080TI and a Ryzen 3900x and getting around 50-80 FPS.

I would kill for those frames. When it isnt stuttering, its BUTTER smooth. but it lasts sub 15 seconds before the chug

No idea why so many people with high end builds are having problems.

I run a 980Ti 6GB, i5 8400 and 16GB of RAM and it's smooth as butter.

this may be useful for the devs. You're right, the stutter/chug is far more rampant with higher end parts... I wonder what could possibly cause that. I may try on my wife's PC, which has an older i5, 16gb ram, and a 2070S.

These fps drops are happening sometimes for me too, I know my 3050 Ti and Ryzen 5800H maybe not the recommended but even on lowest setting I get 50 fps max, and ultra 30, makes no sense.

I am having the same issue with a 2060

Honestly? I wouldn't be happy but i would settle for this. The single digit frames a few times a minute is just... its impossible to play. I can't DO anything.

Just as a point of comparison -- 5700 XT, 3900X, nvme SSD, and 64 GB of memory - locked it at 60 fps and haven't had a single drop that I've noticed so far in around 2 hours of play time. Most of my settings are at high as far as I remember, only turned off motion blur and the film stock. Resolution is 1080p.

3080, ultra settings , no lags , no problems.
u might have low VRAM, or some other bottle neck problem

"low vram" that makes zero sense.

3080ti with 12700k 3600ddr gen4 m.2 zero problems, also have gsync monitor. check and make sure your ram is running at the correct speed if anything.

Just how? I'm literally running a 4th gen i7 with a 3070TI and it runs fine for me (Mostly medium and high graphic settings)

I play with a 3080ti, 9-10500k, 32gigs of ram and an Hero maximus 7 and it really works for me. All on Ultra and dlss on quality and it feels like 144 capped fps.
xavier434 Feb 23, 2023 @ 7:52pm
I recommend opening the Task Manager and placing it on a 2nd monitor so you can watch how your system's resources are being used while you play. That may assist with narrowing the issue down.

Some other things to think about:

1. Are you experiencing any performance issues with other games?
2. Is your graphics driver up to date?
3. What else is running in the background while you play?
AdamHaptic Feb 23, 2023 @ 7:53pm
Interesting... I am running Reduce Memory and locking the RAM to never exceed 70% of my 32GB and it seems to sit pretty at 16GB... and NO stutter occurring. At all... Sort of a last ditch to see if I could play a little tonight. I wonder if I should play around with this a little more and see if anyone else has the same luck if they do the same.
