What the ♥♥♥♥ do I do with all these left over logs?
I use them to make stuff but then theres so many little quarter logs and half logs and planks that I can't use and they just take up space and it bothers me. I can't even store half or quarter logs in the log storage so what do I do with em? Commonly I throw them into the river but that feels like a not so elegant solution.

Cut them up into firewood and put them in piles. There seems to be a limit on how high the piles can get though. So you may need multiple piles.

But I can't actually use the wood for fires?

When you cut them down to the smallest size you can. You can add to the fire up to a point.
I cut quarter-logs and split them in half, but I am not able to get them on a fire. Do you have to arrange them in some special way? Do you have to start with them and not with a stick fire?

You always start with a stick. When holding the stick, you can either start a new fire or add a stick to an burned out fire to re-light it. So after breaking the stick(s) for the fire, you use the lighter. Only after this can you use log-parts to boost the fire. This will help the fire last alot longer.

firewood pile. Or up Kelvin's bum. Either way.
My strategy, quit game. Start game, voila, all sloppy logs are gone.
Firewood bru
The firewood thing is kinda confusing. When you build a fire, it needs to have exactly two sticks on it. Then you can start adding chunks of firewood.

If the fire burns down too much, you need to make sure it has two sticks on it before you can add firewood again.
Oh btw you can make piles of firewood outdoors, but indoors, you need to build a firewood holder to stack them up.
