I found the solution:
You have to go in this folder location on your PC:
\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves\76561198019728029/ (if you can't find appdata, press Windows key + R and type %appdata%, then click appdata at the top)
Once you'll be in the file : 76561198019728029, you should have a file name Multiplayer and MultiplayerClient. Rename it to MultiplayerClient to Multiplayer. This will make them one file. Restart game and multiplayer should work.
The equivalent path for me was:
`<Steam folder>/steamapps/compatdata/1326470/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Endnight/SonsOfTheForest/Saves/76561198049263418/`
I had neither a Multiplayer nor a MultiplayerClient directory. A friend zipped and sent me their Multiplayer folder, which I then extracted into my save folder.
I don't know whether it was the proton version or Multiplayer directory, but either way it works now.
i dont have the multiplayer file or multiplayerclient
