There was a tray in the first one that allowed ya to share. I can't imagine they wouldn't include something similar. Perhaps just dropping them?

hold E when looking at a player/NPC and it will give the same menu as when adding to a fire, but for giving to a player

You can approach the Backpack of the other player, interact with it and you can put the items shown on your ehh.,.. hand? In the backpack of the Player.
Use R to switch the items around so you find what you wanna give
