Caves are also too dark. Or rather: light sources are too weak. The torch is pathetic, doesn't radiate more light than the lighter. This needs fixing.
This is not the case with the game. The lights dont bounce around trees or grasses. Caves are only feasible if you have several friends with lights.

Man, I just can't stand when I can't see in the complete darkness. It's so realistic.
Your eyes will eventually adjust to the darkest nights. the proper approach here considering the scaling of in-game time would be to gradually increase visibility by a couple points to around 40 feet in the span of 3-4 minutes when darkness falls, or if you are near a light source and walk away.
Perfect example right here, the bottom looks cool but the top is just too dark. It's literally nothing but a black screen and doesn't look or feel good.
Problem is if you turn up the gamma and brightness, the day doesn't look good and you'll find yourself going in there to change it twice a day. The default should be brightened up just a bit.
Sorry but this is absolutly not true. Also in Sons of the Forest, the Sky is not always covered with clouds.
I lived my whole live behind a densely vegetated forest in Germany, had to walk trough it to get home and to school. And even on nights whitout moon, youre eyes adapt to the darkness. Sure it's still dark, but it's not pitch black, even when the moon gets coverd ...
