how do i make a door in a defensive wall? this is driving me insane

Nothing works, when i do a stand alone door i cant break the bottom log or put split logs in to actually make the door inside the frame, dont see a gate anywhere in craft menu

Same here. I ended up building a wall with a rope on each side.
