Why Not Crossplatform?
I honestly don't see a reason why PS5 and PC can't play together on a 2023 multiplayer survival game.

Because then they need the help of a 3rd party publisher. You saw what happened to Fall Guys and Rocket League. They want to have there own freedom and not follow the rules of some of the big companies.

The game isn't even finished. 100% they will get a console release out when the game is done.

Oh... plus... Let's not forget the mishaps of crossplatform & crossplay. It has nearly RUINED PC gaming. We've lost freedom of mods, some (not all games do this) Graphical abilities, and more. PC gaming catering to the likes of being equal to or matching console expectations just to play with them is a major no in my book.

Yeah this problem is vastly understated by most people. Adding cross play is not trivial in and of itself but then you have all the other problems that come with it:
-console parity being required so you have to hold pc patches back to keep them to the restrictive (and costly) console versions
-dropping of mod support likely with a fairly intrusive anticheat
-then, and this is true for even non cross play multiplats, the devs won't want to make multiple different systems for each platform so you get an attempt at merging the two as much as possible(which usually results in less things for pc)

Sony would censor the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, I'm glad it's PC exclusive, at least for now.

I understand console players frustrations but people dont tend to understand the entire effects of what crossplay does to these PC games

Because outside of a few years ago when people were making a big fuss over it because Sony said no to Minecraft crossplay because it would've required and Xbox Live account, crossplay just isn't something people care about. Most people back then only cared about the subject because it was the hot new thing to piss and moan about and it was forgotten after a few months just like every other hot new thing to piss and moan about.

It's free to play online on PC (Microsoft store) and cross play has helped many of us play with our relatives and friends that aren't fortunate enough to have a gaming PC.

Modding should be limited to single player games, sick of seeing games like monster hunter being ruined by people cheating in stats on a co-op game and one shotting monsters so they think they look cool

Crossplay between Xbox and Playstation is fine. But if the game losses mod support on PC because of crossplay, yeah I'll pass on that.

I can't think of any downsides to console-console crossplay. It's cross system play that causes issues.

Modding=/=cheating.

And if modding were restricted to single player games, there's quite a few older games that are only really active because of modded servers, that would just be dead.

Plus, games like Stardew Valley, Payday 2, etc, that have a decent sized modding community, wouldn't have their modding communities and quite a lot of people enjoy mods for those games. And the seamless coop mod for Elden Ring? Which a large number of people use and enjoy? Yeah that wouldn't exist.

Hell, even The Forest has a small modding community.
