Model stuck with a permanent scowl unless I painfully exaggerate my expressions

My current model was finished in March and worked fine, expressions and facial movements were picked up fairly accurately.

I had to step away from the app for a while though due to a number of issues, but now that I'm able to use the app again I've noticed that the model is stuck with a permanent scowl unless I exaggerate the expressions to the point where my mouth/face hurts.

I'm using the same phone, same lighting setup and same settings. I've tried messing with the settings briefly, but the "obvious" settings I messed with didn't seem to affect the sensitivity of the expression changes.

Would this be a rigging issue or is there a setting I'm possibly missing?
