Unable to get camera on Android to work

Hello,

for a few hours now I am trying to get VTube Studio working. But it won't use my camera on my S22 at all, no matter what I do or try. The app has all rights. I deleted all rights and reactivated them, the app has been reinstalled 5 times now.

The camera on the top right only shows checkmarks while the small green "Camera is active"-dot is active. I can't even select or know of it tries to use the front or back camera, where the back camera might be better as it has a much higher resolution.

Yet its just empty. This is all I see: https://i.imgur.com/i6jPZNk.jpg
Yes both cameras work perfect on everything else.

This is due to an incompatibility with the Android face tracking library I'm using (Mocap4Face).

The library has been discontinued a few months ago, so they will not provide any fixes for this. Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can do about this for now.

I am actively looking for replacements for that library, so as soon as I find something, I hope to restore compatibility.

No, only on some devices. Sorry, forgot to mention that. The Samsung S22 and S23 seem to be the only devices affected by this right now.

I just bought the App on my Samsung Galaxy S22 only to find out it doesn't work??? I am sorry but the app should have a HUGE warning that it's literally useless on certain devices with a list of those devices. How do I issue a refund for this?

I'm using a Poco X3 Pro and the camera doesn't seem to be working either.

i just bought the s23 and discovered the incompatibility problem. i see in a discussion a year ago u were looking for a library replacement to fix this. any update on that? if not then i might just return my s23 and get a iphone.

There have been a few updates since then that could potentially have fixed it, but I have no way to check that currently. If you're getting a phone just for VTube Studio though, please remember that Android tracking is still much worse than iOS tracking.

Also more recently, with the New A series of Samsung (A15,A55, etc ) have this problem too, u bougth an A55 and have this same problem of Mocap4Face, so now more devices are affected.

I'm planning to replace the current Android tracking library with Google Mediapipe on Android. This should restore compatibility with all Samsung devices and improve the tracking quality by a lot. No ETA yet but probably sometime early 2025.

We can't do nothing except wait until early 2025 right?
