Nope, ever since the gamespy shutdown (even before this) the Unreal masterservers have been community run, using the 227 patch will automatically set your masterserver to a one which is running.
As always, the most played gametype is co-op, currently Level-Up! RPG and Project Gryphon are the most popular mods/servers, Unreal is still played, mapped for and modded for etc :)
There are of course less players than there were 13 years ago, but the community never went anywhere.
When was the last time you played on multiplayer, if so did you go by another name? I actually started sometime 2002-2003, if you played anytime from then to now there's a chance we've met before. :)
Peace.
I have installed v227i and the servers do appear, but there were 5 players, 4 were with 1 player, and the other was 3 in cooperative mode against enemies on a city map.
Well, when I met Unreal, it was 1 and I played locally, I rented the game from a store. I think that later I bought the UT but I didn't play much, seasons and times as leisure. Later I bought it on Steam.
Greetings
