Patch 227i doesn't work
Hi guys! I'm trying to play Unreal for the first time and I heard that 227i is the way to play, but each time I install the patch as soon as the game opens, it crashes with this error message:

"
General protection fault!

History: UFireTexture::ConstantTimeTick <- UFractalTexture::Prime <- UTexture::Tick <- (FireTexture NaliFX.flames1) <- UTexture::Update <- URender::DrawFrame <- URender::DrawWorld <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop
"
It's the third time now I reinstall the game and the patch and I can't seem to make anything work. The games runs without the patch, but with the patch it doesn't. I also tried with every video and audio device options and nothing works. I need help :(

In that case, try adding the unreal exe as an exception to all programs in case it is DEP that is causing the GPF.

That is odd. It is usually the other way round where the base game might have a fault but the 227i patch fixes it.

Have you checked that you installed the right 227i patch as there are different versions for Unreal and Unreal Gold ?

If correct, past posts have suggested that some players have had this fault when Windows Data Execution Prevention closes the program so it might be worth checking via control panel if Data Execution Prevention is set on for all programs or just essential windows programs and services.

You're welcome. Glad I could help. Enjoy the game.
Have had this game working for years so not sure why it started being silly now but that worked for me too. Thanks Moody!
