277 patch install issue

every time i try to install the patch a message pops up saying i need to have unreal gold installed to this file, what am i not doing right?

Double check you’re reading everything right and not ticking something that may be for a disc version of the game only or something like that. I’m not sure if there is an option like that but there might be. More likely is that the automatic directory find is wrong and you may have to manually tell it where it really is or you have the wrong version of the patch. It should be for Unreal with Return to Napali. Hopefully one of these will be the answer.

There are 2 different 227 patches if I recall. 1 is for the classic Unreal not including Return to NaPali and another for Unreal Gold. Make sure you've downloaded the right one.

You probally didnt set the correct folder.

First off, make sure you download the 227i patch for Unreal. This is the most current one.

Go into your Steam account> click on Library> right click on Unreal Gold.

Cick on Properties>Local Files>Browse Local Files

When you get to that file, click on the "This PC > Local Disc (C:)" bar with your left mouse.

That will highlight the file.
(Mine comes up as... C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unreal Gold)

Copy and paste that entire bar that into the installation screen file.

That will bring up the next installation screen for you. :) Let me know if you have any problems with this! Once you get past that screen, you're golden.

If you're using the Steam version of Unreal, then the patch version you want is for Unreal Gold/Unreal Anthology, apart from that KomradeFoxy's instructions are accurate :)

Try using FMOD if you aren't already. I get weird results with OpenAL.

I was struggle on install thanks indeed ,the game wiki was of no help.
