But for me it worked "fine" under Steam Input, and when native support came I didn't have to do diddly squat for the better feel of going native.
If you really want to use steam input then you have to choose a gamepad configuration from steam game settings.
Don't know what any of that means (I'm that good at this lol). Usually games with xbox controller support work from the get-go; just need to launch game and have your controller on.
P.s. I have moved on (might come back later). But there seem to be others as well...
Due to the fact that the game supports Steam Input (in order to support Steam Deck) sometimes Steam recognizes controllers as Steam Input device and enable the option. When Steam Input is active you have to choose a gampad configuration from Steam Library -> Easy Red 2 -> Controller.
However Steam Input is not necessary, in fact I suggest to completly disable Steam input for Easy Red 2 (from the very same menu) as the game supports direct gamepad input as well (just like most games, as you say)
I'm not touching any of my settings. All other games works perfectly like it is – for all I know everything goes to sh*t after I do your thing. The issue is in your end. It's not supported properly if I need to jump hoops no other game requires me to.
Hello, the game normally support direct Gamepad input without issues, however in order to support Steam Deck we also have to support Steam input. Both methodologies works fine and ensure 100% compatibility with any gamepad, but sometimes Steam doesn't recognize what kind of controller you are using and decides to enable Steam input automatically, but also other times when that happens it also doesn't assign a configuration automatically, so a solution is either just assigning a configuration or simply disabling Steam input for the game. Both solutions are quite quick to apply and it's something usual to do on games that supports Steam Input for Steam Deck.
I suppose steam automatically enables steam input sometimes maybe depending on some users profile settings or maybe when a very particular controller is used. In any case this is something that afflicts a tiny fraction of our users and as a very simple solution.
It's that easy.
Damn, because it's working for me
