Issue with switching squad members.
So I figured out why sometimes when you die, your teammates are all 2-3 points back and you have to run to the point. It's because the game doesn't cancel orders given by AI squad leaders when they die. So if you aren't playing as squad leader, and the AI SL gives an order and then dies, it stays and the squad ends up stuck there the entire match unless you become new SL and even then, you are not really informed in a way that is noticable, it's really easy to just push on ahead and not realize your squad is way behind because they follow so slowly anyways. It should probably be default that if an AI SL dies, all the AI given orders should default to a follow command for new player SL upon AI SL death. Otherwise you end up having to either surrender half a squad or run them all back to the front and miss out on the offensive.

This should be fixable, and it really does interrupt the gameplay flow.

Hello, this depends on if you keep choosing to control squad leader in your squad, then it's up to you to give orders, but if you select any other member the AI will become squad leader and will give orders to the AI to attack / defend the objectives

If you don't want to always be SL, this ends up being a flow problem with the game. If I want to play MG or Radio or just Rifleman, I either constantly have to check on the squad anyways to make sure the SL isn't dead with a dead order affecting the rest of them, or constantly switch to SL or replacement SL to cancel orders and just default them all to follow.

So basically the player is SL regardless of role, because if AI SL dies, the squad is dead in the water until you notice, switch roles and update the orders.

But again this is not how it works, as soon as the leader becomes an AI, it start giving orders. The only situation where what you describe happens, is if the leader isn't dead but it's injured, as it could still be healed up and keep giving orders, but as soon as he dies a new AI leader will start commanding the squad:

Then to fix it, it needs to be more obvious that a battlefield promotion has happened. I think you are right actually, it's mostly when I am playing as radioman (because they get the semi auto) that this happens, sometimes MG gunner too. The problem is I am focusing on shooting and don't realize the SL has died and I've been auto promoted to new SL. And then I move on with the blob to the next point, die myself not realizing I am new SL and haven't updated any orders and then have to switch to a new member 1-2 and sometimes even 3 points back.

I guess you could say I am not paying attention to the UI much, but just some small but noticeable UI feature letting you know you've been promoted would solve this, as I could just quickly issue a follow order and solve the issue. Otherwise you're constantly checking the rank icon down on the side instead of scanning for enemies and shooting.

Actually there is a bug with the AI that if a AI Squad Leader takes a position of say an Anti-aircraft gun for example and the capture point is taken that the AI Squad Leader will stay in the fixed turret and not issue orders to the squad. For the most part it sounds like this is the issue that you are describing. I've seen this happen several times with an AI squad hanging at a capture point or more back from the fight because the AI squad leader has taken a position in a turret and stayed in the turret and kept the squad around it even though the capture point was taken and combat has moved on. Aside from this occasional issue Marco is 100% right with the AI issuing commands even if you are the Squad Leader and even quickly switch to a non-squad leader role the AI will assume command of the Squad Leader role instantly.

As far as needing hints to make the player aware that you have been given command of the squad well that is what the UI feature is for especially concerning the squad that a player is in. That UI feature is already in the game. Just look at the left side of the screen for that UI detail. Now if you play without the UI then I could understand maybe some for of quick pop-up indicator advising you that you are now commander of the squad.

Are you sure this is a bug nowdays? The issue of AI not giving orders while using static vehicles was something that poppoed out a few weeks ago but should be fixed already since a few updates

It was a few weeks ago but I haven't played and tested it again in the past couple of weeks. I just did a test about a hour ago and it does appear that AI bug has been addressed and fixed. My apologies. You patch quickly! :)

Yes, this is basically what I am asking for, would fix the issue 100%. Just a less intrusive version of the COD promotion UI even just flashing somewhere around the top of the screen for a second to know you are now the new SL.
