Tebourba Gap Impossible?
Is anyone else finding Tebourba Gap (Tunisia) absolutely impossible? I've tried playing both sides, setting difficulty to easy, and playing solid defense but can't seem to advance past the second objective -- the objective always falls back to the previous control point. Am I just really bad at the game despite completing all the other campaigns?

I've beaten every African map on Easy with a gaming controller on Xbox. And i'm a senior citizen lol. I mean the game can be tough at times, but it can be beaten.

LOL, i'm sorry man. Didn't mean to be that way. I'm just saying if an old man with a controller can do it, i didn't think much of a problem.

But you're here on PC and so maybe there's differences in that mission as compared to consoles.

Here's what I've done: if you're playing as Germans, get in the Pz IV first, clear the first hill starting from the right side. Beware of enemy tanks. After clearing the first objective, stay on top of the hill and destroy the enemy AT guns in the town from long range. You can spot them because they have square shields. Approach the second objective from the left hand side of the town. You may be able to find a position at the objective where you have a wall protecting one side of the tank, your hull machine gun covering the front, and the turret covering the other side. It make take a couple of tries to clear the town. The third objective is easier than the second. Hope this is helpful.

Went back to this mission because of this thread. I believe the main issue is just that any mission that requires the player to play tankers will lead to some friction. I am not much a fan of the tank gameplay now so this mission just feels extremely pitiful when playing as attacking inf-all your German comrades can't push off the first hill unless you do the work for them with armor.

You asked if the mission was impossible. He said it wasn't, that he beat it with a controller (harder in most people's opinion), and he called himself old (implying that he's likely less skilled regarding video games). He very much answered your question. You replying with the typical "Okay boomer!" as if you can't learn anything from older people is ACTUALLY the "quintessential" response. ;)

I beat it on both sides on PC, Realistic difficulty, with default bot counts. It's probably the hardest mission of the campaign ("Push the Frontlines" missions tend to be) but it's doable. You have to be willing to use the tank spawns especially on the German side. As German armor, destroy the British AT emplacements asap from a distance, otherwise advancing from the hill won't be easy. Watch out for the AA gun once you're in the village.

As British, I've beaten it as infantry, but you have to sweat as the Boys AT gunner. Get to the top of the hill asap in the first phase and take cover constantly in between killing enemy infantry and taking potshots at tanks so that they don't target you for too long. If you're really careful, you'll be able to survive as the enemy armor won't try to climb to the top of the hill. Loot explosives from enemy AT bots that you kill, tossing them down from the top of the hill toward enemy armor that get too close. In the next phase, don't advance ahead of your team. Instead, try to knock out the enemy AT emplacements from a distance. It might take a few back and forths, but eventually friendly armor/infantry have a good chance of being able to take the German town if you've knocked out the AT guns. I did the "no respawn" challenge this way.

If I had to guess, the AI pathfinding around and from the hill could use a lot of work. I can only speak for my experience playing from the German side but oftentimes I can see vehicles stuck among the rocks on the hill, including essential infantry transports for capturing the objective.

As it is now the map is terrible to play and I hope it gets fixed soon. I do not look forward to playing it from the British side.
I am tempted to run each campaign mission AI only and see just how far attackers get in each before faltering. I am skeptical about just how much player interference is needed for a mission to progress. It seems like it differs wildly mission to mission.

The map was easier as British, likely thanks to not forcing infantry to spawn in on halftracks that get stuck pathfinding on the hill

Beating any mission in Easy Red 2 with an xbox controller is impressive in itself. There's no aim assist and no gyro like the switch/PC version.
