What's with anti-tank rifles?
Whenever an AI soldier is using one it seems like it's an instant one hit kill from the other side of the world, but as soon as the player picks one up it turns into an airsoft gun. Even at point blank range they still do absolutely nothing to anything. It'd be nice if we could get them buffed so they're actually usable.

When using AT rifle you should aim to the weak spots and you should try to hit them as perpendicular as possible to avoid ricochets. However some vehicles might be too heavily armored, meaning that you can only try to broke their tracks with it, and then use different methods to take off the vehicle.

That's realistic, at least. So basically AT rifles are as useless in the game as they were in real life, got it.
Oddly enough I find AT rifles to almost be OP in this game. Maybe I am lucky or I just use them effectively but I knock out tanks pretty easily with them. Just shoot weak points in the armour and know where crew members are to get kills. Basically never shoot the front of the tank, always shoot the sides, the rear, the tracks etc. Ussually 2-3 shots and they are done for.

The real problem is HE splash damage.
Technically you don’t even have to deal with a tank “realistically”. With an AT rifle you can un-track the tank and pick off each crewman that comes out to fix it… the AI is not too smart about self preservation

Well, to this I'd like to add that there is effort to try to make the AI look as smart as possible but at the same time being able to dynamically work in every situation. Tank crews for example wouldn't jump out of a tank to start a repair if they think they are in dangerous situations, for example when the tank is suppressed.
